McKenzie Siroky, Mona McSharry Highlight TNAQ June Invite

The University of Tennessee had many athletes compete at the TNAQ Invite in their home pool. Highlighting the meet were breaststrokers McKenzie Siroky and Mona McSharry.

Siroky was one of only five women set to represent the US later this summer at Pan Pacs that was not on the psych sheets for the Indianapolis Pro Series, the same weekend as this meet. She went head to head against McSharry in prelims of the 50 breast as Siroky touched in a 31.00 ahead of McSharry’s 31.27. Siroky has been as fast as a 29.64 this season, a time that sits at #2 in the World this year. McSharry, the 2024 Paris Olympic bronze medalist in the 100 breast, represents Ireland at the international level.

Siroky swam in prelims and finals of the 100 breast, touching in a 1:08.24 in prelims before winning in a 1:08.20 in finals. McSharry swam a 1:07.18 in prelims before scratching the final. McSharry has been as fast as a 1:06.27 this season from the Irish Open in April.

McSharry also swam in prelims only of the 200 breast, touching in a 2:27.70. McSharry swam a lifetime best 2:22.22 for a new Irish Record in April.

Camille Spink, who represented the US at the 2023 Pan Am Games, swam to a lifetime best 54.06 in the 100 free as well as a season best 1:59.08 in the 200 free. Her 200 free time was her fastest since winning bronze in the event at those Pan Am Games in a 1:58.61.

The men’s side of the meet was highlighted by Julian Koch who made his Tennessee debut as he transferred from Pitt this spring. Koch represents Germany at the international level and swam to a 22.97 50 free, 49.74 100 free, and a 53.75 100 fly.

Nikoli Blackman, who represents Trinidad & Tobago at the international level, won the 50 free in a 22.64, 100 free in a 49.18, and 200 free in a 1:50.11.
