OMAHA, Neb. – The College of Saint Mary swim team will be under new leadership this season.

College of Saint Mary Director of Athletics Robbie Shay is pleased to announce that Liz Germonprez has been named the new head coach for the Flames. Germonprez officially started at CSM on June 3.

“I am excited that Coach Germonprez will be leading our swim program,” Shay said. “She has the knowledge and experience to move our program to the next level. CSM is very lucky to have Liz and I am excited about the future of our program.”

  • SwimSwam Note: Liz is the mother of current University of Texas swimmer Nate Germonprez.

Germonprez has experience coaching all levels – college, high school and club. Most recently she was the assistant coach at Westside High School while also working as a national group head coach for iNspire in Omaha.

Her 17 years of swim coach experience also included time with Central High School, Greater Omaha Aquatics Leopardsharks, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Eau Claire Aquatics Club, Pomona High School (Colo.) and Thompson Valley High School (Colo.). In 2011 she was named the Joe Merten Coach of the Year at UW-EC.

Germonprez was an NCAA Division I swimmer at Texas A&M University.

“I’m very thankful to Robbie Shay and everyone who was a part of the interview process for giving me the opportunity to be a part of the College of Saint Mary family,” Germonprez said. “The CSM administration, staff and coaches have been incredibly supportive and welcoming. I’m thrilled to be back in the college swimming ranks and to continue to build the CSM swim program.

“Most importantly, I can’t wait to work with this fantastic group of student-athletes who personify dedication, perseverance and grit.”

Germonprez and her husband Matt live in Omaha. They have two children – Maggie and Nate.
