LEN Announces Prize Money for European Championships

The European Swimming League (LEN) has announced they will be handing out prize money to all medalists of the European Championships for the first time in history.

The total prize pool is 225,000 Euros, approximately $255,000 American.

SILVER (Ind.) 1,500 €  $1700
BRONZE (Ind.) 1,000 €  $1135  
GOLD (Relay)  3,500 €  $3965

BRONZE (Relay)  2,500 €  $2835

This financial incentive will give swimmers a little bit of extra motivation to perform at their best in London during a year where the main focus of every competitive swimmer is their respective Olympic Trials and the Olympic Games.

The European Championships have already started this morning with the first preliminary session, and finals begin at 6 PM London time and 1 PM Eastern. The meet will run through until Sunday May 22nd.
