Records are going down in Garland, TX. This morning, Lakeside Aquatic Club 10-year-old Erica Wang downed the 10&U girls 50 breast National Age Group Record this morning. Wang clocked in at 31.42, taking nearly a second off her previous personal best of 31.83, which she swam at a meet a few weeks ago.
Her race this morning took down the NAG, which stood at 31.73 and was held by Meghan Lynch. Lynch recorded that NAG in 2014. Wang appears to have turned 11 this weekend, however, as she was 10 at the start of the meet, her age for this meet remains 10.
The swim this morning was Wang’s only race of the meet, however, it’s a prelim/final meet, so she’ll have a shot to break it again this evening.
Unsurprisingly, Wang holds the top time for 10&U girls nationally in a number of events this season. The 50 breast, of course, as well as the 100 breast (1:10.25), 200 breast (2:36.29), 100 IM (1:03.55), and 200 IM (2:19.72).
