Kristin Gary captures 200 Backstroke FINA World Masters title

Former Blue Devil swimmer Kristin Gary captured a FINA World Masters title in the 200-meter backstroke this week at the 15th edition of the annual meet, held at the Aquatic Complex at Jean Drapeau Park in Montreal.

Gary took first in the women’s 200m backstroke event for her age group, clocking a time of 2:32.08 in the final. She is also slated to compete in the 50m backstroke, 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly at the meet, which continues through Sunday, Aug. 10.

A member of the Blue Devil program from 1985-88, Gary was first in the 100 backstroke for Duke at the 1986 New South Intercollegiate Championships in Durham with a time of 2:10.16.

She previously won U.S. Masters age group championships in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke and the 100 butterfly in 2010.
