On the last night in Toronto, Kate Douglass had a World Cup title on the line and didn’t flinch. She not only re-broke her less-than-1-week-old World Record in the 100 Free but she became the first woman under the 50-second barrier, clocking a 49.93. This also gave Douglass the edge over UVA and USA teammate Gretchen Walsh on the scoreboard, netting Douglass her 2nd World Cup title in as many years.

If World Aquatics wants to promote Kate’s versatility, do they consider moving the schedules of the 100 and 200 breast away from the 100 free to make it easier for her to do both in Worlds and the Olympics? Kate has been the top U.S. freestyler at trials in both 2023 and 2024, although she gave up her individual spot in Paris.
I take it she meant 100 free LC?
Yes of course.
It’s manageable. 100 free final is on the same night as 200 br semis, but 200 br semis is swum 90 minutes after 100 free final.
Kate Douglass should be retroactively paid for crown busting Siobhan Haughey in the W 100 FR.

Day 1 – W 100 FR
Day 2 – W 200 BR
Day 3 – W 50 BR?
Day 4 – W 100 BR
Day 5 – W 50 FR
2027- 200 Breast, 100 Breast, 100 Free; then after she wins all three go for the crown buster in the 200IM.
That is massive potential, imagine being Olympic champion in the 100 free & the 200 breast, unheard of.
The aforementioned international trials schedule applies to the 2027 World Aquatics Championships.
The 2026 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup should retain the SCM format while the 2027 World Aquatics Swimming World Cup reverts to LCM format, if memory serves me correctly.
There exists only one event (M 200 FR) between the W 100 FR and the W 200 IM on Day 3 at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup. That’s not enough time to sufficiently recover. In addition, crown bust A. Walsh in the W 200 IM? I don’t think so. That’s not what teammates do.
