Junior Nats Qualifier Katy Miller Verbally Commits To Pitt

The University of Pittsburgh women have a new addition to their recruiting class following Katy Miller‘s verbal commitment to join the Panthers next season. Miller’s current training base is with SwimMAC in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she’s also a senior at Charlotte Catholic High School. Her primary events are the breast and IM races.

Last season, Miller qualified to compete in both the 100 breast and 200 IM at the North Carolina 4A High School State Championships. She cracked the top 16 in both races, placing 9th in the 100 breast and 13th in the 200 IM. Miller also qualified to compete at least season’s Speedo Winter Junior Nationals (East), where she swam the 200 breast.

Miller’s Top Times:

  • 100 breast- 1:04.73
  • 200 breast- 2:19.20
  • 200 IM- 2:09.44
  • 400 IM- 4:29.14

At Pitt, Miller will join a training group that includes now-junior Katie Fernander, who scored in the B-final of the 200 breast at the 2016 ACC Championships. Additionally, Fernander was just hundredths shy of scoring range in the 100 breast at the 2016 ACC Championships. Miller will also have an IM training group that includes Amanda Richey, who won the 400 IM C-final at the 2016 ACC meet.
