Israeli National Record-holder Ofek Adir Verbally Commits to Yale for 2026-27

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Ofek Adir from Ramat Hasharon, Israel, has announced her verbal commitment to the application process* at Yale University for 2026-27.

“I’m truly excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process at Yale University. Yale offers something so unique, the chance to pursue world-class academics while competing at the highest level in swimming. I couldn’t imagine a better place to grow both as a student and as an athlete. I’m deeply grateful to the incredible Yale coaching staff for believing in me and to my future teammates for the warm welcome. I can’t wait to begin this journey!”

Adir, who graduated high school in 2024 and is currently doing her military service, specializes in distance freestyle and open water swimming. She trains with the club team Hapoel Bat Yam and represents Israel internationally.

At the 2024 Israel Youth and Senior Championships (25m) in December, she won the 1500 free with a new national record of 16:36.39, coming to the wall 14.2 seconds ahead of the runner-up. She was runner-up in the 800 free (8:40.44), 3rd in the 400 free (4:21.14), and 3rd in the 200 free (2:02.31).

This summer, Adir represented Israel in the 10km race at the 2025 World Championships in Singapore, where she came in 32nd place, and at the European Championships in Croatia, where she placed 19th place. In 2023, she was a member of Israel’s 4×200 freestyle relay that finaled at World Junior Championships.

Adir told SwimSwam, “I’m incredibly excited to join the Yale Bulldogs! I’m thankful for the coaches who’ve believed in me and guided me every step of the way. I can’t wait to grow as an athlete and a student at Yale.”

Best SCM times (converted):

  • 1500 free – 16:36.39 (16:30.44)
  • 800 free – 8:40.44 (9:54.78)
  • 400 free – 4:16.31 (4:52.92)
  • 200 free – 2:02.31 (1:50.18)

Adir’s best converted times would have scored for the Bulldogs at the 2025 Ivy League Women’s Championships in the top 8 of the mile, the ‘B’ final of the 500 free, and the ‘C’ final of the 200 free. She will join Elise Gratton in the Yale class of 2030.

*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.

If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].

They’re not tame – they’re getting flagged and removed.

Good luck to both Yale and to Adir. She is clearly a hard working and impressive young woman.

Yeah, it’s “impressive” how over 80% of G..4…Z..4 has been turned to rubble
