Men:

NC State’s Anton Ipsen has been named the 2017 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year and headlines the All-ACC Academic Men’s Swimming & Diving team.
Ipsen, an industrial engineering major from Birkerod, Denmark, is a three-time All-ACC Academic team member and a two-time CSCAA Academic All-America honoree. The junior earned All-ACC recognition at this past year’s ACC Championships placing first in the 500 freestyle and second in the 1,650 freestyle. At NCAA Championships, he earned two top-eight finishes in his respective events, earning him All-America status in both. He was also an outright CSCAA All-American in the distance events while earning honorable mention All-America accolades for the 400 individual medley.
Fifty student-athletes from all 15 league member institutions are represented on this year’s All-ACC Academic team, led by Louisville with nine honorees, Duke with seven, followed by Florida State and Notre Dame each with six.  NC State has five, while Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech have four representatives. Rounding out the team are Pitt and Virginia with three honorees, North Carolina with two and Boston College with one.
Virginia Tech’s Brandon Fiala, is the only four-time All-ACC Academic team member this year. In addition to Ipsen, 11 student-athletes collected their third All-ACC Academic team honor.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
