David Hill, who was named Interim Head Coach of the men’s and women’s swimming program after the resignation of head coach Trevor Trimpe in December, has now resigned from the position.
Hill began his first season on staff in 2025 with the Firehawks programs as an assistant men’s and women’s swimming coach, before being promoted to interim after Trimpe’s resignation.
This past season, the UT Southern men’s team finished 2nd out of 5 teams at the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championships, while the women’s team finished 4th out of 6 programs. The women’s team managed that finish with only four swimmers competing.
The men’s team earned silver-medal finishes in all five of the meet’s relays and managed to have each swimmer return for finals each night of the championships.
In December, after over two seasons as Head Coach of the men’s and women’s swimming programs at the University of Tennessee Southern, Trimpe resigned.
Trimpe began his coaching tenure in 2023 with UT Southern, having previously been the head coach at fellow NAIA school Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska, for the 2022-2023 season, and serving as head coach at West Virginia Tech in 2017-2018.
The men’s program did send one swimmer to the NAIA National Championships this past March, as freshman, soon-to-be sophomore Janos Kadar competed in the 200 free and 500 free, finishing 33rd and 34th, respectively.
Hill graduated from the University of Kansas in 2020, founded Elite Swim Training (EST), and has authored 17 books, including The College Swimming Guide: Recruiting, Training, and Thriving – The Roadmap to College Swimming Success.
The program is now searching for a new head coach.

Hahahah
He left the program before the team competed at conference.
He was at Conference coaching.
>graduated from the University of Kansas in 2020
>has authored 17 books
That’s a book every 4 months assuming he started after graduation.
Dude never wrote a 2nd draft apparently… he’s on pace to surpass L Ron Hubbard’s record.
Looking at Amazon, this guy gives his own books 5 star reviews. How modest.
