The 2025 NCAA Swimming and Diving season has already set an unprecedented first. The United States Pro Diving Coaches Association (USPDCA) has released a pre-season coaches poll exclusively for diving. Another unique aspect of this coach’s poll is that there’s also a third category of combined team rankings in addition to the usual men’s and women’s team polls.
On the women’s side, Texas came out on top. The Longhorns lose Olympian Hailey Hernandez to graduation, but retain first-team All-Americans Bayleigh Cranford and Alejandra Estudillo. The pair scored a combined 70 points in Federal Way last season. The Top five is rounded out by the University of Miami, Purdue, Indiana, and UNC thanks to stars like Chiara Pellacani, Daryn Wright, Ella Roselli and Lanie Gutch on the boards for them.
Indiana University came out first in the men’s poll. Despite losing two of the best divers in the NCAA the past few seasons in Henninger and Tyler, the Hoosiers remain on top. Indiana brings in top recruit, Joshua Hedberg, and keeps now senior All-American, Max Weinrich. The Texas Men come in as runner-ups after retaining all their NCAA scorers from last season. Diving powerhouses, Miami (FL) and Purdue, round out the top four with their traditionally strong squads. Florida sneaks into the top five, bringing in impressive freshman, Jesus Agundez.
The combined team rankings are unsurprisingly headlined by Indiana, Texas, and Purdue taking the top three spots, respectively. Interestingly, despite being ranked second on the women’s side and third on the men’s side, Miami is ranked all the way back at number six overall. Florida and
North Carolina came in as the fourth and fifth-ranked teams on the poll. It is unclear how exactly the overall rankings are determined, as the men’s and women’s polls have more specific criteria laid out on how rank is determined.
According to the USPDCA, they plan on releasing updated rankings in early November, mid-December after mid-season invites, early February before conferences, and once more before NCAAs.
