Indiana Swim & Dive Faces Louisville in Final Dual Meet of the Season

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Indiana men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams will make the short drive south to face the Louisville Cardinals in a dual meet on Friday afternoon. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at the Ralph Wright Natatorium in Louisville, Kentucky.

 

Scouting the Hoosiers

The Indiana Hoosiers enter Friday’s final dual meet of the season riding high after sweeping rival Purdue last Saturday at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind.

 

The Indiana men defeated Purdue, 187-107, while the Hoosier women beat the No. 21-ranked Boilermakers, 185.5-114.5.

 

The Hoosiers had three athletes honored by the Big Ten this week for their performances against Purdue.Blake Pieroni was named Co-Swimmer of the Week, Joshua Arndt was named Diver of the Week and Lilly King was named Co-Freshman of the Week. The honor was the third the season for Pieroni, the first for Arndt and the fifth total for King.

 

Coming in to Friday’s dual meet, the Indiana men’s team is ranked No. 9 in the nation, while the IU women moved up four spots to No. 12 in the latest CSCAA NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Poll.

 

Scouting the Cardinals

Friday afternoon’s meet will also be the final dual of the season for the Louisville Cardinals before the ACC Championships next month. Entering the meet, the Louisville men’s team is ranked No. 10 in the country, while the women’s squad is ranked No. 9 in the latest CSCAA NCAA Division I Swimming & Diving Poll.

 

Last season, the Cardinals’ men’s team placed second at the ACC Championship before finishing 15th at the NCAA Championships. The Louisville women’s team came in fourth place at the conference championships before placing a program-best sixth at the NCAA’s.
