The 2026 Big 12 East Championships unfolded in Houston, Texas, over the weekend, with the TCU women and Houston men emerging victorious.
West Virginia, Iowa State, and Cincinnati were also in attendance, while ASU simultaneously hosted the Big 12 West Showdown, welcoming Arizona, BYU, Kansas, and Utah in Tempe. Both meets served as tune-ups ahead of the Big 12 Championships, scheduled for February 24-28 in Greensboro, North Carolina.

In the inaugural Big 12 East Championships hosted by the University of Houston at CRWC Natatorium, the TCU swimming and diving program saw immense success, with the men’s side finishing first out of all programs and the women’s squad tallying a third-place result.
On the men’s side, TCU earned 961 total points, placing above the likes of Cincinnati (913) and West Virginia (812). The women collected a total of 1031 points, putting them third behind Houston and Cincinnati. Overall, TCU had the second-best combined team score for the meet out of all competing programs with a 1992.
A total of 11 new top-10 marks were set this weekend, with five coming from diving events and six from the swimming competition.
DAY ONE (MORNING)
The TCU men created momentum from the jump on day one, as the squad of Lior Mizrahi, Colin Clough, Nigel Forbes and Peter Horton blazed to a 1:25.95 in the 200 medley relay to earn the first of numerous wins for the meet. The Frogs earned a trio of top-three finishes in the 100 fly, as Aubrey Finn placed third with a 54.64 on the women’s side and Mizrahi and Forbes finished in the top two spots with respective efforts of 47.55 and 48.26
Filip Suchanski (3:54.65) and Giannis Skaris (3:57.40) came in second and third in the 400 IM. TCU then followed with another trio gathering top-three finishes, this time in the 200 free with Avery Dillon’s 1:48.26 effort to place third on the women’s side and Viktor Hristov (1:37.17) and Luka Cavic (1:37.59) collecting first and third for the men.
Nina Vadovicova improved on her second-best mark in school history in the 100 breast, swimming a 1:00.22 to earn second. The Frogs saw another top-three finisher on the men’s side, as Nikola Koltin touched the wall in 54.41 to place third.
The women’s 200 free relay squad earned second and the men’s side placed first to give TCU all of the momentum heading into Friday’s evening slate of events.
For diving in the morning portion, David Ekdahl posted a 345.40 on 1-meter to secure an event win. Emma Larcada Herrera set a new top-10 mark on 3-meter, collecting a personal-best score of 321.15 to earn third.
DAY ONE (EVENING)
The highlight of the evening’s events came in diving, as Bryn James set the school record on platform with a score of 414.05. to win the event. Larcada Herrera captured another top-three finish on the women’s side to cap off an impressive first day for TCU diving.
Paige Taber (54.23) placed second in the 100 back and Suchanski followed with a 47.61 effort to win the event. Vadovicova excelled in the breastroke once again, this time collecting a win in the 200 breast with a 2:09.96. Nikola Koltin came in third on the men’s side, touching the wall in 1:58.49.
Dillon earned yet another win in the 500 free for her breakout freshman campaign, this time with a 4:48.64 effort. Braedon Ando went 4:27.77 to capture third on the men’s side. In the fastest event in swimming, TCU held up to its reputation, as Molly Cullen (22.75) and Peter Horton (19.64) earned victories for the Frogs.
DAY TWO
To open Saturday’s proceedings, Dillon threw down a 16:44.84 to place second in the 1650 free. Aaron Wilmes posted a 15:19.32 to earn a win in the event as well, as TCU started both days of the meet with impressive results to capture the edge for the day.
Nicole Christensen (2:02.99) came in third in the 200 IM. Horton and Forbes finished in the top two spots for the 100 free, collecting times of 43.19 and 44.53. Morgan Gore finished second in the 200 fly (2:00.81) and Hristov (1:47.25) alongside Yochanan Meza (1:48.58) earned the top two placements in the 200 fly.
In the final individual event of the meet, Taber went 1:58.79 to finish second in the 200 back. Suchanski continued his impressive two-day stretch, this time going 1:44.18 to secure a second-place result. The men’s 400 free relay quartet of Hristov, Forbes Horton and Suchanski touched the wall in 2:55.17 to close out the Big 12 East Championships with a win and add some extra insurance for the men’s squad at the top of the leaderboards.

Day One:
The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team scored four first place finishes and ten podiums following the first day of competition at the Big 12 East Showdown at the CRWC Natatorium on Friday.
The Cougars are currently in the top position with a score of 801 followed by Cincinnati (761), TCU (651), Iowa State (525) and West Virginia (498).
SESSION 1
The 200-yard medley relay team of sophomore Alexia Duncan, junior Evelyn Entrekin, senior Noor El Gendy and senior Liya Goupil started the day strong, landing a second-place finish with a time of 1:39.75.
Duncan, junior Sydney Nethercutt and Goupil all took home second-place in their respective events consisting of the 100-yard butterfly (54.16), 400-yard IM (4:18.72), and 200-yard freestyle (1:48.04).
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Goupil, sophomore Sienna Bruner, junior Elizabeth Jimenez and senior Jenna Kerkman finished third with a time of 1:32.38.
Junior diver Michelle McLeod scored the top spot in the 3-meter (356.20) and second in the 1-meter (308.35).
Freshman diver Maisy Woloszyn had an impressive day on the springboards. The freshman landed at the top of the scoreboard on the 1-meter (323.10) securing her first collegiate win. The Ontario, Canada, native placed second on the 3-meter (331.10), securing her second NCAA Zone Cut of the season.
SESSION 2
Duncan continued making waves in the evening session scoring the first win of the session in the 100-yard backstroke (52.62). This time secured the sophomore her first NCAA Cut of the season.
Senior Virag Peter earned third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:12.53.
Freshman Emma Overall crushed the 500-yard freestyle finishing in second (4:52.00).
Goupil continued making marks on the day scoring a third-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle (23.11).
The last event of the day saw the Cougars take the victory in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Duncan, Entrekin, El Gendy and Goupil touched the wall at 3:36.07.
Day Two:
The University of Houston Swimming & Diving team scored six first place finishes following the second and last day of competition at the Big 12 East Showdown at the CRWC Natatorium on Saturday.
The Cougars topped the competition with a final score of 1292 followed by Cincinnati (1172), TCU (1031), West Virginia (807) and Iowa State (781).
Junior Evelyn Entrekin scored the Cougars first top mark of the day in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:00.69.
Senior Liya Goupil touched the wall in first position in her only individual event of the day. The Reunion Island, France native topped the 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 49.75.
Junior Sydney Nethercutt scored the third top mark of the day in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:58.94.
Freshman Emma Overall made waves in the 1650-yard freestyle landing a first-place finish and a new personal best in the event (16:36.62).
Sophomore Alexia Duncan continues her streak on the leader board in the backstroke events touching the wall in first in the 200-yard with a time of 1:55.95.
In the diving event, junior Michelle McLeod scored top marks in the platform competition (293.70) followed by sophomore Caroline Roelen in second (282.95).
