American Jack Alexy led the heats of a men’s sprint event for the second day in a row on Saturday,
On Friday, Alexy was the fastest swimmer in the heats of the 50 free – in finals, that led to a Cam McEvoy World Record (though Alexy’s 21.57 was no slouch of a time for March).
On Saturday, Alexy swam 47.73 to lead all performers. The World Record holder Pan Zhanle qualified 2nd in 47.94, while Olympic champion Kyle Chalmers qualified 3rd in 48.74.
Don’t jinx it, but Good Luck Chuck?
Also on the men’s side, Swiss star Noe Ponti popped off a 51.07 in the heats of the 100 fly. That put him half-a-second ahead of Chen Juner, who qualified 2nd in 51.57.
Italian Thomas Ceccon will also be in that final after finishing 5th in prelims in 52.59.
In the women’s 100 fly, Americans Gretchen Walsh (55.77) and Regan Smith (56.73) raced to the top two seeds. Walsh’s time ties as the 30th best performance in history, and is the 5th-fastest prelims swim ever. For Smith, that is the 10th-fastest time she has ever been.

Shin Ohashi went 2:06.59 WJR in the 200 breast, turned in 59.8 at the 100
🥶
I hope he can turn that into senior success.
Bruh. This guy keeps making me go bruh.
what the sigma
Alexy has the genetics. He just needs to reduce yardage now.
That picture makes my elbows hurt…
Nothing about the 100 breast?
A Walsh was slated to swim 400 im but didn’t, she did do a 1:09 in the 100m breaststroke
🥱
I feels unreal that 55.77 is only 30th best performance in history.
At this point going 55 is just a normal time for her in prelims
