Grand Canyon senior Daniil Antipov was named WAC Men’s Swimmer of the Week for Jan. 22-28.

Antipov, a Krasnoyarsk, Russia, native, led the Lopes with three individual victories in a 184-100 win against Simon Fraser in Idaho. His best performance came in the 100-yard butterfly as he recorded a time of 47.19 seconds to make an NCAA B Cut. Antipov also won the 1,000 freestyle (9:32.87) and the 200 butterfly (1:47.46). Antipov holds the fastest time in the WAC for the 100 and 200 butterfly.

Antipov’s top 200 butterfly time of 1:42.35 ranks as the 10th-fastest time in the world for the event.

The Lopes are back in action next weekend as they host UNLV on Feb. 2 for Senior Day.
