Anastasia Gorbenko arrived at Louisville last spring to begin taking classes and is now competing for the Cardinals this spring. This weekend was only her second meet into her collegiate career, and Gorbenko is already rewriting the record book. Her 200 IM was notably her first time ever swimming the event in the SCY pool.

Gorbenko’s Records:

  • 100 breast: 57.67 (School Record, t-#2 in NCAA this season)
  • 200 IM: 1:53.53 (School Record, #3 in NCAA this season)

In addition to her individual success, Gorbenko also helped the Louisville women sweep the relays during the finals session last night against Texas and Ohio State. The team’s 200 medley relay of Julie Mishler, Gorbenko, Caroline Larsen, and Julia Dennis touched in a 1:33.49, almost three seconds ahead of Texas (1:36.34).

Louisville also closed the evening session with a win in the 400 free relay as Larsen, Dennis, Mishler, and Gorbenko combined for a 3:10.21, finishing ahead of Texas who touched in a 3:11.05. There was only about 15 minutes between the 200 IM and 400 free relay.

“So called” top teams? Wouldn’t say the 10 best teams be the top teams? And isn’t Louisville already among them? Don’t understand your logic.
