For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Isabella Bishop from Winter Springs, Florida has announced her commitment to swim and study at Boston College beginning in fall 2022.

“I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Boston College!! A huge thank you to my family, friends, teammates, and coaches for all the support over the years!! I am truly grateful for this next part in my D1 journey!! GO EAGLES

Bishop swims for Blue Dolphins Swim Team out of Oviedo, Florida. Primarily a freestyler and backstroker, she most recently competed at the Futures Championships in Huntsville, Alabama. There she set new personal best times of 1:06.64 in the 100 and 2:24.20 in the 200 backstrokes. This past March, she set new short course best times in the 50 freestyle (24.23) and 200 backstroke (2:03.82) at the North Florida Spring Senior Championships.

This fall, Bishop will begin her senior year at Oviedo High School. Last November, the Oviedo girls team finished as runner-ups at the Florida 4A (big schools) State Meet. Her best short course times are:

  • 50 freestyle: 24.23
  • 100 freestyle: 51.60
  • 200 freestyle: 1:52.48
  • 100 backstroke: 56.61
  • 200 backstroke: 2:03.82

Boston College is a private university located in Chestnut Hills, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston. The school is a member of the ACC Conference.

At the ACC Championships this past year, the women’s team finished 12th out of 12 teams. In the 50 freestyle, rising senior Haley Dolan became the first individual to qualify for finals since 2007. She finished in 22nd place with a time of 22.86. Bishop has the potential to make an impact at the conference level for the Eagles as her best time in the 200 backstroke would have placed 24th.

Bishop also has the potential to become a top 10 all-time performer for the Eagles women’s team. Her best time in the 100 backstroke would put her 3rd in the all-time top 10 as well as 6th in the 100 freestyle and 7th in the 200 backstroke.

Bishop joins Emma Derby and Emma McNulty in the class of 2026 that will join Boston College next fall.
