Friends’ Central Aquatics Wins Middle Atlantic Championships, Makes Waves at Mini Meet

 

Friends’ Central Aquatics swimmers braved the cold temperatures, wind and rain, and won the team title for the fourth consecutive year at the annual Bridge to Bridge open water Middle Atlantic Championships June 27, as about 175 athletes and 20 teams participated in the United States Swimming sanctioned event hosted by the Pleasantville Aquatics Club.

“To win the Middle Atlantic Open Water Championships in these challenging conditions says a considerable amount about these young athletes and all the coaches that work with them,” said FCA head coach Iain Anderson. “Needless to say, we are very excited about the victory and seeing some blue skies next year.”

Friends’ Central Aquatics (FCA) closed out the regular 8 & Under Spring/Summer season on some high notes with the Summer Mini Meet June 28, as about 15 teams and 100 athletes competed in the event, hosted by the FCA at Friends’ Central School.

“FCA’s Head Age Group Tracy Alt Ford has done a terrific job with these youngsters,” said FCA head coach Iain Anderson. “Her passion, support, and creative approach have these kids excited about practice, competition, and the upcoming fall/winter season already.”

Top 3 swimmers for FCA at the event were as follows:

6 & U Boys: Max Strick (first in 25 free, 25 back, 25 breast.)

7-7 Boys: Ben Friedman (first in 25 breast); Oliver Stein (second in 25 back, 100 back.)

8 & U Girls: Peyton Brady (100 fly – third, 100 back – first, 25 fly – first, 50 fly – second); Sydney Brady (25 breast – first); Jamie Oswald (25 free – second, 100 back – third, 200 IM – second); Olivia Stankiewicz-Goldsmith (second in 25 back.)

8 & U Boys: Rohan Hauser (25 free – third, 25 back – second); Felix Kohler (100 back – first, 25 fly – third, 200 IM – third); Greyson Line (25 back – first, 50 fly – first); Harry Serota (100 breast – first, 25 breast – second); Connor Simpkins (100 fly – second, 25 back – third, 50 back – second, 100 free – third, 200 IM – second); and Colby Whitney (second in 25 fly and 100 IM.)
