Freestyle & Butterfly Specialist Annie Lock Sends Commitment To Hope College For Fall 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Freestyle and butterfly specialist Annie Lock, from Libertyville, Illinois, has committed to swim and study at Hope College, beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. She swims year-round with RISE Aquatic Club and attends Libertyville High School.

Lock confirmed the commitment in an email to SwimSwam, writing:

I am so beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Hope College. A huge thank you to my family, friends, and all of my coaches for their endless support. I would also like to thank Hope Swim and Dive for this amazing opportunity! Roll Dutch!! ⚓🧡💙

Lock’s two major competitions during her most recent high school season were the IHSAA Sectionals and the State Championships in November. At Sectionals, she produced lifetime bests of 23.85 in the 50 free and 51.92 in the 100 free, earning silver medals in both events and qualifying for State. She also anchored two relays, logging 23.28 on the winning 200 medley relay and 23.78 on the 200 free relay, which finished second.

At the State Championships, Lock added some time, hitting the wall 18th in the 50 free (23.93) and 22nd in the 100 free (52.47). She split 23.90 on the medley relay and 24.13 on the 200 free relay, with the teams taking 22nd and 26th.

Lock concluded her short course season at the NCSA Spring Championships in March in Orlando, where she recorded a 24.50 in the 50 free (114th), 53.35 in the 100 free (124th), 1:58.50 in the 200 free (152nd), and 59.69 in the 100 back (164th). Her relay contributions included a 24.58 split on the 200 medley, 25.03 on the 200 free, 1:58.15 on the 800 free, and 53.06 on the 400 free—helping those squads touch 46th, 49th, 31st, and 28th, respectively.

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 Freestyle: 23.85
  • 100 Freestyle: 51.92
  • 200 Freestyle: 1:57.91
  • 100 Butterfly: 58.60

Hope, located in Holland, Michigan, competes in the NCAA’s Division III Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The women won the 2025 MIAA conference title and went on to finish 9th in the team standings at NCAAs.

The conference meet offers ‘A,’ ‘B,’ and ‘C’ finals, with the top 24 advancing for a second swim. It took times of 24.86 in the 50 free, 54.50 in the 100 free, 1:57.64 in the 200 free, and 1:01.45 in the 100 fly to earn finals swims.

Lock’s best times would have placed her 6th in the 50 free, 6th in the 100 free, 8th in the 100 fly, and 9th in the 200 free after prelims, giving her several different event lineup combinations within championship final scoring range.

On the team itself, Keggins’ best times would have ranked 5th in the 50 free, 4th in the 100 free, 6th in the 100 fly, and 12th in the 200 free this past season.

Keggins joins Peyton Ostertag, Abby Milliken, Callie Marks, Ashley Glime, Mia Henderson, Violet Schwartz, and Layla Umstead in Hope’s class of 2030.
