There have been a handful of meets so far this season, but the annual major-Division I kickoff comes with the All-Florida Invite, and for the first time since the meet’s inception, it’s leaving Gainesville.

This year, Division II program Nova Southeastern University will host the meet in their outdoor complex in Ft. Lauderdale.

The Florida Gators are still the dominant team at the event, especially on the men’s side, but they will be missing 3 of their stars. Earlier this month, at a press conference, Florida head coach Greg Troy said that he was holding his three Olympians, Caeleb Dressel (United States), Mitch D’Arrigo (Italy), and Jan Switkowski (Poland) out of the first meet of the season as they continue to recover from a long summer of travel and training.

All three are expected back next month.

While Caeleb, the fastest 50 yard freestyler in history and defending NCAA Champion in the event, isn’t racing, there will still be a Dressel in the meet. Caeleb’s younger sister Sherridon will make her NCAA debut for the Gators this weekend.

Also missing from Florida’s travel squad is senior Jack Blyzinskyi, which leaves just one senior, Emiro Goossen, to compete for the Gators men this weekend. Florida does have a huge freshman class, with 12 true freshmen and 1 redshirt freshman, joining the team this season.

This year’s All-Florida Invite will be without Florida State, a program transitioning under new coach Neal Studd; his old team Florida Gulf Coast, under new leadership, will be present.

On the women’s side, besides the hosts and the Gators, the University of Miami, Florida Gulf Coast, and Keiser University will participate. On the men’s sidde, it will be a field of 3: Nova Southeastern, Florida, and Keiser University.
