Below is a recap of all four Florida high school Class 3A region meets. The top two finishers in each event automatically qualified for this weekend’s state meet, along with the next best eight overall times among the four regions.
The most notable performances came in Region 2. Lecanto sophomore Noah Walker won the 200 IM (1:49.46) and 100 back (49.40) in personal best times. In the boys’ 15-16 age group this season, he now has the 3rd-fastest time in the 200 IM (SCY) and the 10th-fastest time in the 100 back. In addition, Lake Buena Vista freshman Jayden Tsai set a personal best time in the 500 free (4:33.28) and now has the fastest time in that event in the 13-14 boys’ age group this season.
Region 1
Team winners: Girls — Ponte Vedra, 529; Boys — Duncan Fletcher, 284
Overview: While the Ponte Vedra girls team was the clear winner, the boys competition was much closer. Duncan Fletcher ended up prevailing by just 12 points over second-place Lawton Chiles, with Allen Nease 14 points behind in third. In the girls’ event, Ponte Vedra senior and South Carolina commit Sophie Fox was the individual standout, winning the 50 free and 100 fly and being a part of winning teams in the 200 medley and 200 free relays. In the boys’ competition, Lawton Chiles junior and Stanford commit Owen Ekk won the 100 free and 200 IM, while Allen Nease junior and Florida commit Luke Zardavets won the 100 fly and 100 breast. Freshman Reef McMeeking of Seabreeze Senior swam personal best times to qualify for the state meet in both the 200 IM and 100 breast.

Overview: The big performance individual came courtesy of Lake Buena Vista freshman Jayden Tsai, who set a personal best time in the 500 free (4:33.28) and now owns the fastest time in that event (SCY) in the 13-14 boys’ age group this season. Also moving up the national rankings was Lecanto sophomore Noah Walker, who swam personal best times to win the 200 IM (1:49.96) and 100 back (49.40). In the boys’ 15-16 age group this season, Walker now owns the 3rd-fastest time in the 200 IM and the 10th-fastest time in the 100 back. There wasn’t much suspense in the team competitions, with the Sunlake girls and the Jesuit boys each winning with ease.

Overview: St. Petersburg easily swept the team titles in each gender, with the girls being led by senior Karrington Hansen and sophomore Brinkleigh Hansen. Committed to Kentucky, Karrington Hansen won the 100 free and 200 IM. Brinkleigh won the 200 free and 500 free. The individual standouts in the boys’ event were St. Petersburg sophomores Christian Guettler and Logan Coakley. Guettler won the 50 free and 100 free, while Coakley captured the 100 back and 100 fly.

Overview: The boys’ team event was a close one, with Martin County prevailing by 10 points over second-place Saint Thomas Aquinas. Individually in the boys’ event, Sebastian River senior and Navy commit Louis St. Petery and Melbourne junior Sawyer Hackett each won two events. St. Petery won the 100 back and 100 fly, while Hackett took the 200 IM and 100 free. In the girls’ event, Miami Beach senior and Michigan commit Gioia Balzano and freshman teammate Penelope Lopez-Casula each won two events. Balzano won the 200 free and 100 fly, while Lopez-Casula was first in the 50 free and 100 free.
