MIAMI – The FIU women’s swimming and diving team wrapped the TYR Fall Classic Saturday morning with an impressive performance, picking up a total of 521 points to take 1st overall for the second straight year.
FIU took home four first place finishes while earning the top score in diving Saturday morning.
“A lot of strong performances….it was a great team effort,” head coach Randy Horner added. “A lot of good highlights, I like where the team is at, and we got faster where we needed to get faster.”
Senior Christie Chue highlighted day two winning a pair of individual events while helping the Blue & Gold take first overall in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:43.56. Chue secured the top spot in the 200-yard breaststroke in the A-Final with a time of 2:18.31 and the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:06.67
On the boards, fifth-year Paige Burrell scored first in the 1-meter totaling for 304.30, qualifying her for the NCAA Division I Zone B.
In the 100-yard freestyle Diana Santamaria took third place in the A-Final with a time of 52.21 in addition to help set FIU to a first place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a team of Oumy Diop, Ana Luiza Daisson and Harliai Curthoys-Davies for a time of 3:27.41. Jessica Shpilko added with a second place finish in the B-Final of the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.96.
Ingrid Huszar took home first place in the B-Final of the 200-yard breaststroke, placing a time of 2:22.70.
Nicole Frank and Mia Zahab added with second place finishes with Frank timing for 2:08.00 in the 200-yard backstroke, while Zahab scored a time of 2:08.14 in the 200-yard butterfly.

FIU heads to Davie for a dual-meet against Nova Southeastern & Lynn University on Friday, Nov. 3 and Saturday, Nov. 4 from the NSU Aquatic Complex.

MIAMI – The second day of the TYR Fall Classic saw more success for the Florida Atlantic University men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams.
The men’s team remained on top, ultimately winning the two-day meet out five teams, while the women’s team staged an impressive day two to finish in second place out of six.

Men
- The men’s side continues to dominate on relays, kicking off Saturday’s action with a win in the 200 free relay. The team of Peyton Ming, Dalton Lillibridge, Jackson Kirk, and Jacob Rubin logged a time of 1:30.91
- Lillibridge achieved a second-place finish in the 200 breast (2:02.07) as well as the 200 IM (1:55.19)
- Logan Thornsberry placed in second in the 500 free (4:39.73)
- David Arneskov finished in second place in the 200 back (1:53.11)
- In the 1-meter dive, Trevor Kuhn was the winner with a score of 249.30
- The men closed out their winning meet with yet another relay win, this time the 400 free relay. Rubin, Kirk, Thornsberry, and Timo Paisley record a time of 3:02.75
Women
- Riley Trout dominated in the 200 back with a first-place finish of 2:02.63, almost three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher
- Izzy Jones tallied second in the 100 free (52.00)
- Nula Gow continues to impress in her freshman year, recording a second-place finish in the 200 breast (2:20.89)
- Trinity McNall placed in second in the 3-meter dive (218.35)
