Federica Pellegrini To Star On Italy’s Saturday Night Live

While competing at the Italian National Championships recently, prolific international swimming star Federica Pellegrini alluded to a special TV appearance in her post-racing SwimSwam interview.   Although she couldn’t reveal details at the time, we now know that the soon-to-be 30-year-old will be starring in Italy’s version of Saturday Night Live on Saturday, April 21st.

In the show’s preview video above, Pellegrini is seen interviewing for a position, with the career counselors questioning what experience the champion brings to the table having spent the majority of her life in the water. They ultimately recommend she take on the role as a promoter outside a shopping center since she’s used to working in ‘costume’. Pellegrini’s Instagram account also points to a skit with Italian actor and comedian, Claudio Bisio, with the aquatic athlete donning a familiar suit and cap while in a bubbly hot tub.

The Italian superstar snagged national titles last week in the 100m freestyle (54.42), as well as the 100m backstroke (1:00.03). Pellegrini, who won gold in the 200m freestyle at last year’s World Championships, will be competing at the Sette Colli Trophy in Rome at the end of June and turns 30 on August 5th.
