ESPN to Stream World University Games Swimming on Mobile Platforms

FISU, which is the international governing body, has announced that portions of this summer’s World University Games, which take place from July 6th-17th in Kazan, Russia, will be televised live in the United States by ESPN across their their web platforms (WatchESPN app, WatchESPN.com, etc.) to those subscribers to affiliated internet providers.

The focus of ESPN’s coverage, according to a press release, will be swimming, water polo, track & field, basketball, beach volleyball, and court volleyball.

“Our agreement to deliver FISU events is a testament to our commitment of serving sports fans with quality programming, both domestically and from around the world,” said Todd Myers, director of programming and acquisitions for ESPN. “We look forward to carrying these events to a US audience.”

This is the latest big media move for the WUG’s, known as the Universade around the world, including a major deal with the European Eurosport network, and an increase of University-based coverage in several major countries, including Great Britain.
