Eneli Jefimova dominated the final of the women’s 100 breast tonight, beating the field by nearly a second and leading from the start. This is her second title in the event after winning gold two years ago in Otopeni in a time of 1:03.21, her previous best and Estonian Record.
She was out fast tonight, hitting halfway in 29.54 to come within four-tenths off her best in the individual 50. Compared to her previous record the difference came over that first 50, as she closed ever so slightly slower than two years ago.

| 50 | 13.67 | 13.55 | 13.49 |
| 100 | 29.97 (16.30) | 29.78 (16.23) | 29.54 (16.05) |
| 150 | 46.51 (16.54) | 46.37 (16.59) | 46.00 (16.46) |
| 200 | 1:03.21 (16.70) | 1:03.28 (16.91) | 1:02.82 (16.82) |
She neared her record in the semi-finals last night, touching in 1:03.28, but blasted through the 1:03-barrier tonight to come within half a second of the world record owned jointly by Alia Atkinson and Ruta Meilutyte.
Jefimova did slice a tenth of Meilutyte’s Championship record set back in 2013, as she claimed her second European Short Course gold medal. She will be the main challenger to Meilutyte in the 50 breast later in the week, although the Lithuanian scratched the 100 breast heats yesterday and is not a guarantee to contest the shorter event.
Jefimova now ranks as the fastest swimmer in the world this season overtaking long course World silver medalist Kate Douglass.
