BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Dylan Felt set an Atlantic 10 Conference record as the Davidson Wildcats swam past Gardner-Webb in the final dual meet of the year Saturday afternoon.

A sophomore, Felt swam the 200 free in 1:35.11, which bested the previous A-10 mark set by George Washington’s Moritz Fath (1:35.47) in 2019. Felt already owned the 200 free school record (1:35.95) but improved upon that as well.

Felt’s swim was the highlight on a day full of them, as the Wildcats earned two team victories, won 21 events and rode their depth to multiple 1-2-3 event finishes. The Davidson men prevailed 168-94 in the team tally, while the women won 164-98.

Felt also won the 500 free (4:27.27) and swam alongside Ian BrannZain Butt and Guil Ware on the winning 200 free relay unit (1:23.22). Andrew Schou also won two individual events — he swept the 100 breast (54.88) and 200 breast (2:02.13).

Other Davidson men’s victories came from Ben McClain in the 100 free (46.53), Jackson McDonald in the 1,000 free (9:38.46), Liam McDonough in the 100 back (50.53), Jeremy Kemp in the 200 back (1:51.31), Fletcher Smith in the 200 fly (1:50.13).

McDonough, Schou, Ware and Brann won the 200 medley relay in 1:30.25.

Addy DonaldsonAnna NewmanAnn Thompson each won multiple events to lead the Davidson women.

Donaldson prevailed in the 50 free (23.44) and 100 free (51.98), while Newman won the 100 breast and 200 breast in 1:05.27 and 2:22.94, respectively. Thompson took the 100 back (55.94) and 200 back (2:02.72).

Additionally, Chale Jacks won the 100 fly in 56.26, Sylvia Stewart-Bates was victorious in the 1,000 free (10:26.36) and Nora Ratmeyer won the 200 IM (2:08.93).

The Wildcats won the 200 medley relay, with Newman, Jacks and Donaldson joining Leah Sandock (1:45.88).

DIVERS COMPETE AT VIRGINIA TECH
BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Davidson divers competed at the Virginia Tech Invitational Friday and Saturday, with Elle Jacobsen’s second-place finish leading the way.

Jacobsen took second in the women’s one-meter event Saturday with a score of 291.30. Jacobsen also placed sixth in the 3M (295.55), while Annica Valmassei was fifth (1M, 276.70) and seventh (3M, 293.35).

James Gourlay was the top Davidson male performer, taking third in the 3M (312.65) and fifth in the 1M (276.80).

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — On senior day at the Bost Swimming Pool, both the Gardner-Webb men’s and women’s swimming teams squared off against Davidson College of the Atlantic Ten Conference.

Davidson got the better of the men’s competition outscoring the Runnin’ Bulldogs 168-94 while in the women’s meet it was the visiting Wildcats prevailing 164-98.
Among the Gardner-Webb highlights from the men’s competition, freshman Jacob Jenson captured the 50-yard Freestyle in 21.14, finishing ahead of classmate Nolan Patterson, who came in second place in 21.16.

Junior John Cass won the men’s 100-yard Butterfly for the Runnin’ Bulldogs in 50.18 while sophomore Justin Bender finished in first place in the 200-yard IM for the ‘Dawgs with a time of 1:54.61.

Bender (55.74) also had a second-place finish in the Men’s 100 Yard Breaststroke.

In Men’s 200 Yard Medley Relay the Dawgs had a strong showing as Bender, Logan Butner, Cass, and Jenson finished in second place in 1:31.69.

Freshman Luke Weber had a second place finish in both the 1000 Yard Freestyle (9:38.94) and the 500 Yard Freestyle (4:42.10) for the Runnin’ Bulldogs.

In the women’s competition, Gardner-Webb took first-place in four events.

Senior Anna Frye made her Gardner-Webb senior day a memorable one as she won the 200-yard Freestyle in 1:56.97.

In the women’s 200-yard Butterfly, junior Clara Schlimper paced the field for the Runnin’ Bulldogs in 2:07.97.

Junior Emma Maust won the women’s 500-yard Freestyle for Gardner-Webb in 5:09.84 while senior Ellie Eckert finished her final 500-yard Freestyle at the Bost Swimming Pool by taking second place for the ‘Dawgs in 5:15.26.

Maust (10:33.17) also took second place in the Women 1000 Yard Freestyle.

Gardner-Webb took first place in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay as the quartet of Frye, Maust, Samantha Hunter and Slawka Ndubuisi bested the field in 1:36.49.

In the Women’s 200 Yard Medley Relay, Ndubuisi, Sydney HallHannah Routh and Frye finished in second place for the Runnin’ Bulldogs in 1:45.88.

Ndubuisi also had a good showing in both the 50 Yard Freestyle (23.49and 100 Yard Freestyle (52.76) as the Gardner-Webb freshman took second-place in both events.

Routh (56.77) was second in the 100 Yard Butterfly for the ‘Runnin Bulldogs.
