Dougherty Boys, Monte Vista Girls Win EBAL JV Titles

The EBAL (East Bay Athletic League) Junior Varsity Championships took place at the end of April in San Ramon, California, with Dougherty Valley High School winning the boys title and Monte Vista High School winning for the girls.

GIRLS MEET

Rachel Bennett led the way for Monte Vista on the girls side, winning both the 200 free (2:05.62) and 100 back (1:03.60). Adding wins for Monte Vista was Morgan Lewis in the 100 free (56.70) and Anneliese Miller in the 500 free (5:37.51), as well as all three relays.

Finishing in the runner-up position was Dougherty Valley, who got wins from Phoebe Hoang in the 100 breast (1:14.47) and Jodi Lee in the 100 IM (1:07.44). The other two winners, both from San Ramon Valley who took 3rd, were Jacqui Liao in the 50 free (26.24) and Rachel Maldonado in the 50 fly (28.88).

BOYS MEET

Dougherty Valley collected wins from Sam Lee in the 100 (50.25) and 200 free (1:52.19), along with the 200 medley and 400 free relays as they went onto a decisive victory thanks to great team depth.

Aaron Lin doubled up for Amador Valley who took 2nd, winning an odd double in the 50 fly (26.47) and 500 free (5:05.46). Lior Bassin also added a win for them in the 100 breast (1:05.26).

Kevin Connolly was the lone winner for 3rd place De La Salle, taking the 100 IM (59.73), while John Hughes doubled up for Monte Vista in the 50 free (22.59) and 100 back (1:00.32). Monte Vista was edged out by De La Salle by 2 points for 3rd.
