David Nolan Swaps 50 Free For 200 Free On Day 2 Of Longhorn Invite

2016 LONGHORN ELITE INVITE

On the heels of two great 100 freestyles on Friday, North Baltimore pro David Nolan will try out the 200 free on day 2 of the 2016 Longhorn Elite Invite, swapping there from the 50 freestyle he was originally entered in.

The early psych sheets had Nolan swimming the 50 free at the end of Saturday’s session, but heat sheets posted by the meet tonight feature Nolan in the 200 near the beginning of the meet.

He’s the 7th seed in the 200 at 1:48.87, and will swim next to NCAA champ Townley Haas and Olympic hero Michael Phelps in tomorrow’s heats.

Nolan was originally the 5th seed in the 50 free.

Phelps has said he plans to go after the 200 free tomorrow, with the hopes of convincing Team USA’s coaching staff to use him on the 4×200 free relay at the Olympics even if he doesn’t swim the 200 free at Olympic Trials.

The women’s 200 free also added Lisa Boyce, who was not on the original psych sheets but competed day 1 in Austin.

The only scratch was 3rd-seeded Marko Blazevski of SwimMAC in the men’s 400 IM.

Full heat sheets for Saturday are here.
