Nathalie Pena of Mendon, Massachusetts has announced her commitment to swim for Central Connecticut State University beginning this fall. Pena swims year round with Crimson Aquatics.
After a decade of devoting myself to breathing and smelling like chlorine I am very excited to announce my verbal commitment to study & swim D1 at Central Connecticut State University #Classof2020
Last summer Pena competed at the Champions Series – Minneapolis where she was a finalist in the 100 back (1:07.02) and 200 back (2:23.25). She also competed at the short course edition of the meet last March, held in Ithaca, New York. There, she qualified for finals in both backstroke events, finishing 20th in the 100 back and 16th in the 200 back.
Pena will provide immediate scoring potential at the Northeast Conference (NEC)Championships after arriving on campus this fall. With her best times Pena would have qualified for the A-final in both the 100 and 200 backstroke. She would have ranked #4 in the 100 back and #3 in the 200 back on last year’s roster.

Central Connecticut State finished second at the 2019 Northeast Conference Championships. They were led in the 100 backstroke by Kaitlyn Troy, a senior who won the event. Troy was joined by two other Blue Devils in the A-final.
