Cincinnati Lands Virginia Class 5 State Runner-Up Brady Julian for 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Nova of Virginia Aquatics’ Brady Julian has committed to the University of Cincinnati men’s team for the fall of 2026.

I am extremely excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Cincinnati. I’d like to thank my Family, Friends, Coaches, and the Cincinnati staff and team for helping me through this process. Go Bearcats!!

Julian hails from Midlothian, Va., and represents Midlothian High School. As a junior, Julian finished 2nd in a pair of events at the VHSL Class 5 State Championships in March. He clocked best times in both the 100 backstroke (48.99) and 200 IM (1:49.65). He has since lowered each of those times. He also clocked a best time in the 100 freestyle in 47.48, leading off the 400 free relay.

In December, Julian competed at the Speedo Winter Junior Championships in Indianapolis, where he clocked another four notable best times. He clocked his fastest ever 200 back best in 1:45.99 (16th) and in the 200 Fly in 1:47.39 (15th). Julian also bettered each of his IM bests with his 1:49.57 in the 200 IM and 3:51.94 in the 400 IM.

One of Julian’s best short-course performances came at the VSI Senior Champs in March of 2024. There, he set all of his distance freestyle best times, including the 500 free (4:36.31), 1000 free (9:25.07), and 1650 free (15:41.62).

Best Times SCY:

  • 100 Free: 47.48
  • 200 Free: 1:44.28
  • 500 Free: 4:35.31
  • 1000 Free: 9:25.07
  • 1650 Free: 15:41.62
  • 200 IM: 1:49.57
  • 400 IM: 3:51.94
  • 100 Fly: 48.80
  • 200 Fly: 1:47.39
  • 100 Back: 48.56
  • 200 Back: 1:45.99

The Bearcat men finished 6th at the 2025 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships last season.

Based on Julian’s best times, he would have qualified for the ‘B’ final in the 400 IM, and finished 24th in the 1650 free, and 36th in the 500 free.

Julian is already projected to score some valuable points in the Big 12 for the Bearcat men, and with most of his best times coming in late 2025, there is potential for him to be even faster ahead of his collegiate debut, with his senior state championships still to swim.

Comparing Julian’s current times to this season’s Cincinnati roster, he would rank 2nd in the 1650 free and 400 IM and 7th in the 500 free.

Julian’s best sits just under six seconds from being the Bearcat’s top 1650 freestyler this season, but notably has not set a distance freestyle best in nearly two years.

Julian’s repertoire is vast; he can swim nearly every stroke at any distance and produce a serviceable result. If the distance-free option is not available or not working out, there are several other avenues Julian can pursue to find success.

Julian joins Owen Durham, Hayden Hall, and Parker Macho in Cincinnati’s 2026 recruiting class.
