Hank Browning has been named as an assistant coach of the New York University men’s and women’s swimming teams. He will assist Head Coach Trevor Miele in all facets of the program.

Browning, who spent the 2012-14 seasons as an assistant coach at Tufts University, is a 2010 graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business communication studies. A decorated swimmer for the Tar Heels, Browning was the 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Year, an All-American, a two-time UNC Most Valuable Swimmer, and served as a team captain his junior and senior years. He qualified for the United States Olympic Trials in 2008 in the 100, 200 and 400 freestyle and was a three-year selection to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.

“Hank’s experience competing at the highest level of collegiate swimming at UNC combined with his on-deck coaching experience at Tufts make him a perfect fit for my staff,” Miele said. “I am extremely excited to have Hank on board and I look forward to seeing him make a huge impact with our swimmers.”

Browning has spent the last three years as a stand-up comedian, performing at several venues in New York City. He hosts a weekly variety show at Broadway Comedy Club and is a student in the Advanced Studies Program at the Upright Citizens Brigade.

“I am incredibly excited to work with teams that continue to improve each year and make its presence known on the national level,” Browning said. “I am proud to be working at such an esteemed university which values academics and athletics in an amazing way.”

Browning is also employed as a social media copywriter and as a marketing team partner for the Magnet Theater.

A native of Cincinnati, OH, Browning resides in Brooklyn, NY.
