Breaststroke Specialist Cami Schwartz Announces Commitment To Liberty University For Fall 2026

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Breaststroker Cami Schwartz, a native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, has committed to swim and study at Liberty University, beginning in the 2026–2027 school year. She trains year-round with the Lancaster Aquatic Club and attends Manheim Township High School.

Schwartz confirmed the commitment in an email to SwimSwam, and provided the following quote:

I am absolutely ecstatic to announce my verbal commitment to Liberty University! This moment is a dream come true, and I couldn’t have done it without the unwavering support of my incredible family, friends, and coaches who have lifted me up every step of the way. From long hours of training to the highs and lows of this journey, every challenge has shaped me into the person and athlete I am today. I am beyond blessed by the Lord for opening this door, and I can’t wait to see what He has in store for me in the years ahead. A huge thank you to Coach Jake and Coach Jess for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity—I’m honored and excited to be part of something so special. LET’S GO FLAMES!!

Schwartz’s target meets of the last high school season were the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) District 3-3A meet and the PIAA Girls 3A State Championships, both held two weeks apart in early March.

At Districts, she swam to silver in the 100 breast in a time of 1:04.57, and clocked a season best of 2:08.40 for sixth in the 200 IM. She helped Manheim Township’s 200 medley relay to third with a 29.10 breast split, and logged 53.87 to assist the 400 free relay in taking fifth.

Schwartz continued her momentum at State, as she threw down a best time of 1:03.06 in both prelims and finals of the 100 breast, ultimately capturing fourth in the final. She also notched 2:07.36 for 12th and a season best in the 200 IM. She only took on medley relay duties at this meet, and she recorded a 29.03 en route on the 11th place 200 medley relay.

The future Eagle wrapped up her season at the end of March at the Speedo Sectionals in Christiansburg, where she lowered her best time in the 100 breast once again. She stopped the clock in 1:02.70 for her first-ever sub-1:03 result and went on to take silver in the 200 breast (2:18.46), breaking 2:19 for the first time. She also swam a best time of 58.86 for 21st in the 100 fly and a 2:13.36 for 19th in the 200 IM.

On the relays, she helped power both winning medley relays with splits of 29.13 on the 200 medley and 1:02.75 on the 400 medley. She also contributed to the freestyle relays, splitting 25.09 on the 11th-place 200 free relay, 53.87 on the 6th-place 400 free relay, and 1:57.65 on the third-place 800 free relay.

Top SCY Times:
  • 100 Breaststroke: 1:02.70
  • 200 Breaststroke: 2:18.46
  • 100 Butterfly: 58.86
  • 200 IM: 2:06.98

Liberty is a Division I mid-major private evangelical Christian university in Lynchburg, Virginia, with over 135,000 students—115,000 of which are enrolled in online programs and about 16,000 on campus.

Under the direction of Liberty’s first and only head coach Jake Shellenberger, the Flames decisively won the 2025 Atlantic Sun Championship (ASUN) title by 168.5 points.

The conference meet scores ‘A’ and ‘B’ finals, and Schwartz’s best time in the 100 breast would have situated her fourth out of prelims and into the ‘A’ final. In the 200 breast, her 2:18.46 lifetime best would have slid her into the championship final ranked eighth. Her best time of 2:06.98 in the 200 IM is just over a second shy of the 2:05.97 required to make the top 16 for a second swim, while it took 2:02.66 to make the ‘A’ final.

According to the team’s 2024–25 depth chart, Schwartz’s personal best in the 100 breaststroke would rank her as the second-fastest on the team, while her 200 breast time would place her fourth. Freshman Aly Bozzuto tops both events with impressive marks of 59.17 and 2:11.28, which earned her victories in both races at the conference championships to close out her season.

Schwartz joins Grace Descent and Ella Gotham in publicly committing to swim at Liberty for the class of 2030.
