We are less than a day away from another major international meet in the month of April, as the 2026 edition of the Berlin Swim Open will see its first competitors hit the water at 9:30 am in Berlin, as several of Germany’s top talents will race at the Swimming and Diving Hall in Europasportpark.
A key name at this Berin Swim Open is Lukas Märtens, as it takes place alongside the Bergen Swim Festival in Bergen, Norway, where he will be racing this week after recovering from an illness following the China Open last month.
That is not to say that the domestic talent will not still be out on full display in Berlin, as several Paris Olympians and members of the German 2025 World Championships team will be in attendance for this Berlin Open.
Among those names are Sven Schwarz, who won a pair a silvers in Singapore last summer in the men’s 800 and 1500 free, Melvin Imoudu, a 2024 Paris Olympian who finished just off the men’s 100 breast podium in the 100 breast and finished 5th in the 50 breast in Singapore last summer, and Oliver Klemet, an 8th place finisher in the 800 free in Paris and currently ranks 2nd in the world this season in the 1500 free (14:41.71).
Women’s 50 and 100 butterfly German record holder  Angelina Köhler is also entered in the 50 fly here in Berlin, where she is the heavy favorite, seeded more than a full second ahead of the field. Kohler currently sits as the 5th fastest performer in the world in the 100 fly this season (as well as 5th in the 100 free globally). Despite not having her brother Lukas, Berlin will still have some representation from the Martens family: his sister, Leonie Märtens, is set to race both the 800 and 1500 free races; in the latter, she enters here as the top overall seed in 17:27.29.
Key Entrants

Sven is only doing 1500 at this meet. Next week at the german champs he’s doing 400, 800 and 1500
Wonder how the results from this weekend will stack up against last weekend especially with swimmers at 2 different meets.
