Belmont Temporary Pool Grand Opening Set for December 19th

Lucy Johnson contributed to this report.

Invitations were sent out on Friday afternoon to the grand opening of the temporary pool at Belmont.

The $4 million, 50-meter pool is to replace, on a temporary basis, the historic indoor Belmont pool which is set to be razed and make way for a new $50 million-plus facility. The temporary pool will be located in the Belmont parking lot.

Further, on Friday, the City of Long Beach hosted a “pre-bid meeting” for companies wishing to win the bid contract for the big project: the new indoor pool at Belmont. There was initially some concerns over the lack of competition for the bid, but at this meeting, there were approximately 75 people in attendance representing several firms who wished to be the Design Manager for the facility. At the meeting, parties had to submit a Statement of Qualification.

A video of the presentation given to the bidders can be seen below.
