Backstroker Patricia Van Law Makes Verbal Commitment to Minnesota

Patricia Van Law of Highlands Ranch, Colorado has announced, via her Twitter account, her intention to swim for the University of Minnesota for the next four years.

Van Law is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American from ThunderRidge High School. She placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 100 back (56.61) and 100 fly (57.33) at the 2016 Colorado Girls 5A State Championships last February, contributing to ThunderRidge’s 17th-place team finish. Swimming for her club team, Highlands Ranch Aquatics, she was an A-finalist in the 200m back at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in Austin this past summer, a B-finalist in the 400m IM, and a C-finalist in the 100m back and 100m fly.

Her best SCY times are as follows:

  • 200 back – 1:59.60
  • 100 back – 55.58
  • 50 back – 26.37
  • 100 fly – 56.57
  • 400 IM – 4:25.91
  • 200 IM – 2:06.04

Other future members of the Minnesota class of 2021 include Abbey Erwin, Britt Horn, and Mackenzie Padington.
