Backstroker Natalie Obando of Virginia Commits to Towson University

Natalie Obando, a senior at South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia, has signed an NLI to swim for the Towson University Tigers in 2015-16.

“I decided to commit to Towson because I knew it would provide me with the best opportunities to achieve my goals both in the pool and in the classroom.  I’ve been amazed by the support and professionalism shown by the coaching staff, Go Tigers!”

Obando is from Herndon, Virginia where she swims for the Potomac Marlins under coach Kevin Ahearn. At South Lakes High School she is coached by Scott Brown. Obando placed third in the 100 back (56.62) at the 2014 Virginia 6A State Swimming & Diving Championships, and led off South Lakes’ 200 medley relay (27.07). Her best times include:

200y back: 2:01.82            200m back: 2:21.49
500y free: 5:06.90            400m free: 4:40.49

Obando is joining a large and diverse recruiting class with enormous depth:
