He did it again at Far Westerns; 50 free this time. He went a 24.95 (unofficial, last time I checked), I was there and it was surreal watching him swim.

The kid definitely has fast genes. Under 55 secs and only 12. He be 15ish in the next Olympics. Maybe he be a top contender by then. Only time will tell but hope for the best for this kid as he got potential.

For all you naysayers… Ayden is FAST in many events, not just the 100 free. He comes from a family of very fast swimmers, with great work ethic. Interestingly, when Winn Aung set this record, he was much, much bigger than Ayden is now. I would say Ayden small for his age, as he hasn’t hit his growth spurt yet.

Who would even be a naysayer to a 12 year old? lol Sounds like paranoia.

Some people are just REALLY weird when it comes to age group swimming. When I first started coaching and had a kid win high point as a 10 and under, the coach of the second place kid came up to me and went on a rant about how I was “over-producing” (???) 10 and unders and that I had given the kid the “kiss of death” by having him swim so fast at such a young age.

Fast forward 10 years and that same kid made finals at the last Trials so, I dunno…I think that guy was just bitter, and these people are too.

Don’t underestimate the amount of racists who can’t stand seeing an Asian beat them in sports

How many of those listed went on to have a notable career in swimming? Lasco is the only name that stands out for me.

Right, unfortunately a lot of guys that are this fast this early end up peaking early and don’t do too much. Maybe Tan can change that.

Might also be that some kids who are really fast just don’t up being tall enough to be elite level… Still doesn’t invalidate their performances.
