Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Northern Ireland swimmer Matthew Hamilton and Swedish diver Peder Saur Hubred have committed to Auburn University as members of the Tiger men’s 2026 recruiting class.

Hamilton hails from Lisburn, Northern Ireland, and recently represented his home nation at the European Aquatics Championships (SCM) earlier this month. There, he notched a pair of lifetime best times in both the 50 butterfly (23.91) and 100 fly (52.60).

I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to Auburn University where I will pursue my swimming for the next 4 years. Thank you to everyone who has made this journey possible and I am excited for what the future holds. War Eagle!

Earlier this year, Hamilton competed at the LEN European Junior Championships (LCM). His top fish came in the 100 fly, where he finished 13th in the semifinals in 54.08. In the prelims of the 100 fly, he swam his fastest ever time of 53.82. He also turned in a 16th-place performance in the 50 free, clocking 23.11.

Hamilton holds other long-course bests of 50.35 in the 100 free and 1:54.32 in the 200 free.

Best Times Converted to SCY:

Event LCM SCY Conversion
50 Free 22.78 19.58
100 Free 50.35 43.91
200 Free 1:54.32 1:40.10
100 Fly 53.82 47.22

The Auburn men finished 8th at the 2025 SEC Swimming and Diving Championships.

Based on Hamilton’s converted times, he would have projected to finish one spot outside of the alternate positions in the 50 free (27th), 32nd in the 100 fly, and 47th in the 100 free.

Saur Hubred hails from Sweden, and has competed at several major international competitions in his young career.

Saur Hubred dove at the 2024 World Aquatics Junior Diving Championships, where he notched best scores on the 1-meter (334.25), 3-meter (416.60), and the 10-meter platform (365.00).

Two years earlier, Saur Hubred competed at the World Junior Diving Championships at 15, where he competed in only one individual event, finishing 22nd in the 1-meter with a score of 295.55.

Best Scores:

  • 1-meter: 334.25
  • 3-meter: 416.60
  • 10-meter Platform: 365.00

Auburn’s top diver from the SEC Championships was Whit Andrus in the 1-meter, where he finished 7th in the finals with his score of 340.10. Talan Blackmon also finished 16th at SECs with a 1-meter score of 298.10.

The Tiger men did not have a finalist on 3-meter. Andrus and Blackmon finished 18th and 19th, just missing a spot in the consolation finals.

Andrus was also the top finisher on the platform for Auburn, scoring 327.70, good enough for 13th.

Hamilton and Saur Hubred join Sebestyen Papp and Mike Rice in Auburn’s 2026 recruiting class.

Hamilton would have had a good meet at last week’s Junior Nationals, but that ain’t SEC’s. Going to need some really good coaching.
