Arizona Wildcats Get Verbal from Team USA Diver Delaney Schnell

Adding to their group of commits for the 2017-18 season, the Arizona Wildcat women have picked up a verbal commitment from USA National Team diver Delaney Schnell. A Tucson, Arizona native, Schnell currently competes for the Tucson Diving Team and will be staying in her hometown for her NCAA diving experience. She’ll also continue working with her club coach, Omar Ojeda, who is also the Diving Head Coach for the Wildcats.

Aa a member of the USA National Team, Schnell has competed at international events such as Junior Pan Pacs, Junior World Championships, and most recently the Pan American Games. This season, she earned a 6th place finish in the platform event at 2016 Diving Olympic Trials.

Schnell will join a group of divers in Tucson that includes now-junior Kaitlin Costello. Last season at the Pac-12 Championships, Costello earned her highest finish with a 10th place in the platform event. Adding to that, she also scored in both the 1m and 3m events.

Schnell’s arrival will help the Wildcats fill in the gap from Sally Hackett, who is now in her senior year. At 2016 Pac-12s, Hackett was a finalist in the 1-meter event, placing 5th in the final.
