2026 CHINA SWIMMING OPEN & NATIONAL SPRING SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS
- March 19th – March 22nd
- Longgang Universiade Center Natatorium
- LCM (50m)
The 2026 China Swimming Open & National Spring Swimming Championships are slated for next month and, for the first time, a plethora of international talent is set to compete at the Longgang Unversiade Center Nataroium.
According to Asian media, the event, organized by the Swimming Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the China Swimming Association, will bring together China’s leading swimmers and emerging talents, with 17 Olympic and World Championship medalists confirmed to compete.
Non-Chinese athletes reportedly confirmed to participate thus far include the following:
Jack Alexy (USA)
Thomas Ceccon (ITA)
Kyle Chalmers (AUS)
Kate Douglass (USA)
Noe Ponti (SUI)
Regan Smith (USA)
Alex Walsh (USA)
Gretchen Walsh (USA)
That means we may see some potentially high-octane matchups, including a men’s 100m freestyle brawl among World Record holder Pan Zhanle of the host nation, multi-Olympic medalist Kyle Chalmers of Australia and two-time Olympic relay medalist Jack Alexy of the United States.
We’ll see what 13-year-old Chinese prodigy Yu Zidi can put up against the likes of Americans Kate Douglass and Alex Walsh in the IM events, depending on what the teen enters.
Bottom line, the influence of foreign talent makes this competition more of a ‘must-see ‘ event as a stepping stone along the long path to the 2028 Olympic Games.

Pretty sure Cam Mcevoy will be there as well
Pallister and O’Callaghan now too 👀

Wow, this is definitely something to look forward to!
Wowowowowwww
And I love China posters
They always make stylized movies posters
Observation without opinion:
China has decided spending money to attract foreign talent to compete against their athletes will improve their competitiveness in the world stage. The US has decided to close the training center to foreigners (albeit for just one year).
Maybe, maybe not. They could easily send abroad their athletes to find competition.
Another argument could be made they are spending money to help create excitement and build the fan interest in the sport.
That amounts to the same thing. interest will drive performance.
No Popovici?
China ponied up some nice appearance fees!
Yu zidi in 100 fly please
You blur between really bad takes and rage bait that I can’t tell with you anymore
Oh, to me they’re almost always rage bait.
