Tom Higdon of DART Swimming in Davis, California has announced that he will be part of the inaugural class at Simpson University in 2019. A breaststroke main with quick sprint freestyles also in his arsenal, Higdon swam for American River College during the 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 season before moving back home to DART and will now enter the NAIA competition scene. He will be able to qualify for NAIA nationals in his first season in his four main events, with his career-best times 100 and 200-yard breaststroke good enough to qualify him 2nd and 4th respectively at the 2019 NAIA National Championships and would have finished 4th and 6th.
Over the summer at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in Santa Clara he took home a silver medal in the 100 LCM breaststroke (1:04.84), just 1.55 seconds off of the Olympic Trials cut. At the 2019 Speedo Championships Meet in College Station, Texas, he swam both breaststroke events in finals, finishing 5th in the 100 LCM breaststroke (1:05.54) and 22nd in the 200 LCM breaststroke (2:30.08).

Higdon is the only documented member of the Simpson team for the 2019-2020 season, however, he only has two years of eligibility to use for the Red Hawks.
