Alice Ciobanu of Stockton, California has announced her verbal commitment to San Jose State University for the fall of 2020. Ciobanu attends Lincoln High School and swims for Tiger Aquatics.

Ciobanu competed at the Futures Championships-Mount Hood this summer where she finished 16th in the 1500 free in a time of 18:02.72. Last spring, at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section, Ciobanu swam best times in both the 200 and 500 free, finishing 5th in the 200 (1:54.55) and 2nd in the 500 (5:02.16).

After her arrival next fall, Ciobanu will provide immediate depth in the distance freestyle events. At the 2019 Mountain West Swimming and Diving Championships her best times would have put her just outside scoring in both the 200 and 500 freestyles.
