Ali Truwit to Host 2nd Annual Swim-A-Thon for Stronger Than You Think Foundation

Two-time Paralympic silver medalist Ali Truwit will host her 2nd-annual Swim-A-Thon, a fundraising event for her Stronger Than You Think foundation, a non-profit that supports women and girls with limb loss, promotes water safety, and uplifts and empowers Paralympic athletes.

The event raises funds through pledges per lap swum by participants. The overall goal of the event is to raise at least $200,000, as a donor has agreed to match the first $100,000 raised. The event will take place at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, CT, on May 31, Truwit’s birthday, from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Truwit lost part of her left leg in a shark attack while on a graduation trip in 2023, a year after that attack, Truwit qualified for her first Paralympic team, and went on to race in Paris.

Less than 18 months after the attack, Truwit captured a pair of silver medals at the Paralympic Games and set two American records in her efforts.

Her 2025 Swim-A-Thon raised over $100,000, and the event this year will also have appearances from several special guests, including Olympic champion Kate Douglass, two-time Paralympic gold medallist Gia Pergolini, and former North Carolina lacrosse standout Chloe Humphrey.

The event will feature swimmers from the local Connecticut area participating in a variety of programs, such as the Stronger Than You Think Stewie the Duck Swim School, and the St. Ignatius and Chelsea Piers Foundation.

To make a pledge to either a swimmer or a team, or make a general donation to the fundraiser, you can donate here.
