Alabama Women, Yale Men Lead Division I CSCAA Fall Scholar All-America Teams

The CSCAA has released their rankings for the Fall Scholar All-America Teams, which honors programs that have a team GPA of 3.0 for the fall semester.

In Division I, the Alabama women came out on top with a 3.60 GPA, and the Yale men did the same with a 3.62.

The top 5 for each gender are below:

Women

  • Alabama – 3.60
  • Grand Canyon – 3.55
  • Southern Illinois – 3.55
  • North Texas – 3.55
  • Boise St. – 3.54

Men

  • Yale 3.62
  • Harvard 3.41
  • American University 3.39
  • Gardner-Webb 3.38
  • Grand Canyon 3.36

The Lopes of Grand Canyon earn high marks as the only team with both their men’s and women’s programs in the top 5 in what is their first term as a Division I program. Southern Illinois had both in the top 10 – their women were ranked 3rd and their men were ranked 7th.

In total 145 out of 198 women’s programs in Division I received the honor, along with 68 out of 169 men’s programs in Division I.

Among teams who ranked on this list and also placed in the top 10 at the 2013 NCAA Championships include, ranked by NCAA finish:

Did you know…..

The University of Alabama ranks first among public universities nationwide in the enrollment of National Merit Scholars for 2012-2013 with 241 scholars in the fall 2012 freshman class. The ranking also places UA fourth among all universities. Only the University of Chicago, Harvard and the University of Southern California enrolled more National Merit Scholars last fall.

I wish we could get the ranking of the institutions. Some how, I have a hard time seeing Alabama and Grand Canyon equal to Yale and Harvard.
