COLORADO SPRINGS- Jumping right back into the pool after yesterday’s meet at Northern Colorado, the Falcons shook off yesterday’s dual loss to best Colorado School of Mines 168.00-92.00 at Cadet Natatorium.

“Our team rebounded from a tough loss last night and swam great today,” said head swimming coach Colleen Murphy. “They learned a lot about themselves and pushing through adversity to swim fast.”

The 200 Medley Relay team of Anna AshleyNaomi FurmanAllana Clarke, and Abby Turner opened the morning meet with a top time of 1:45.20.

Clarke would later swim to a win in the 100 Butterfly after clocking in at 57.14, while Turner claimed victory in the 50 Freestyle (24.33) and 100 Freestyle (52.34).

C4C Jessica Smith notched her second win of the season in the 1000 Freestyle, pacing the field after posting an 11:01.00. Lauren Arnold finished just behind the freshman with her own time of 11:03.44.

Another freshman, Ryan Mills, tallied her first 200 Freestyle win, closing the race with a 1:55.21.

Kai-Min Tsuei (57.91), Ella Martin (58.43), and Anna Ashley (59.12) swept the 100 Backstroke, finishing in the top three positions.

In just her second appearance of the season, Corinne Yorkman picked up her first win of her senior year in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 2:09.02.

“It was really great to see Corinne Yorkman back in action and leading out team in the 200 Back after semester exchange in Colombia last semester,” said Murphy.

Mandy Fleetwood was the victor in the 200 Breaststroke (2:22.50) while also managing a second place standing in the 100 Breaststroke (1:05.38).

In the 500 Freestyle, Katie Andrist added her second event win of her sophomore season, posting a winning time of 5:21.16.

Air Force concluded the afternoon with a win in the 400 Freestyle Relay, as freshmen team of Ryan MillsAudrey LaganelliKirsten Lee, and Catherine Dean swam to a time of 3:31.27, clearing the next team by a comfortable nine seconds.

“We need to continue this momentum next week when we head to BYU,” said Murphy. “We still have more work to do as we get closer to our conference championships.”

Next, Air Force will indeed travel to Provo, Utah to take on BYU and Colorado Mesa. The two-day meet begins Friday, January 19.

COLORADO SPRINGS- Air Force opened the new calendar with a win over Colorado School of Mines, as the Falcons outpaced the Orediggers to the tune of a 164.00-98.00.

“This was definitely our best day of racing of the year,” said head swimming coach Rob Clayton. “We had many guys swim to season bests, and it was just a great way to start the second semester.”

The Falcons began the afternoon with the 200 Medley Relay, as the team of Joseph MooreTommy NagleJames Winterfield, and Chase Dwornicki managed a winning time of 1:32.86.

In addition to the relay victory, Winterfield also swam to a win the 200 Freestyle (1:41.79) and the 100 Butterfly (50.63). His 100 Butterfly time this afternoon now stands as his best of the season.

Dwornicki had a heck of a day as well, winning both the 50 Freestyle (21.29) and 100 Freestyle (46.89). His time in the latter event was the fastest of his freshman season.

Bridon Rosales (57.21), Mack Nuval (57.61), and Anthony Sebastian (57.72) finished 1-2-3 in the 100 Breaststroke. Later in the day, the 200 Breaststroke saw Sebastian earn the race’s quickest time (2:07.54), while Rosales placed second after his 2:11.08.

Kellen Russell laid claim to a win in the 200 Butterfly, notching a time of 1:56.61. Daniel Detjen swam to a second place standing following his 1:57.19.

Louis Body continued Air Force’s winning ways, recording the top time in the 200 Backstroke with a 1:54.40.

In the final individual event, Camden Swigart took top standing in the 200 IM, winning the race with a 1:56.08.

“We got a lot of momentum today that we are hoping to continue to build on as we prepare for the WAC Championships,” said Clayton. “We had some young guys that did some great things out there.”

Next, Air Force will prepare for a trip to Provo, Utah for a tri-meet with BYU and Colorado Mesa. The two-day meet begins Friday, January 19.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Mines swimming had four individuals touch the wall first in their respective events on Saturday in dual action at Air Force.

While the Oredigger women fell by a score of 168-92 and the men suffered a 164-98 setback, Lucas HokeLuca BurnsJordan Tierney, and Annie Osmun all grabbed gold with the fastest times of the day. Hoke stopped the clock at 10:03.07 in the 1000-free for a 17-second win. He also scored first-place points and had the second-fastest time in the 500-free. Burns won the 100-back by more than half a second, posting a 51.75. Tierney was tops in the 100-breast at 1:05.26. She grabbed silver in the 200-breast as well. Annie Osmun added to the haul was a 2:14.10 in the 200-IM which gave her gold. The men’s 400-freestyle relay earned first-place points after Air Force was disqualified.

Other notable performances came from Olivia KisowGarrett WaiteRonan Lauinger, and Maggie Wells. Kisow scored second-place points in the 200-free. Garrett Waite earned silver in the 50-free. Lauinger brought home two silver finishes in both the 200-back and 200-IM. Maggie Wells scored second-place points and had the third-fastest 500-free. Burroughs returned to action with a second-place finish in the 100-fly.

The Oredigger women are back in action next Saturday with a home dual against Colorado State. Mines’ men and women will close the dual season on Saturday, January 27, with Adams State in town for Senior Day.
