U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo., – Women’s swimming and diving completed a Mountain West dual win, 224-147 over Grand Canyon on Saturday morning at Cadet Natatorium. Overall, the Falcons recorded 15 top finishes, including dive.
“We had another great weekend of racing for our team,” expressed head coach Colleen Murphy. “This is a special team; they work very hard, they are united as a group, and they are talented and eager to improve. We had some lifetime best swims and some new all-time top 10 performances!”
Katie Andrist earned her second gold of the weekend with a time of 10:26.90 in the 1000 free. Abby Miller (10:36.57. followed in second, with Grace Nickell (10:51.27) and Zoe Bresnahan (10:51.49) behind in third and fourth.
After touching the wall at 56.52, Kai-Min Tsuei claimed gold in the 100 back.
In the 200 IM, Sadie Hartig (2:05.18) placed highest for Air Force, in second. Hanani Dona (2:08.27) and Addy Forbes (2:08.70) rounded out the top five of the event in fourth and fifth place.
Sophomore Lily Larson earned her second first place finish after locking in a 200 free time of 1:50.79.
On the diving side, Chloe Perkins scored 232.90 on the platform to take first. Kacey Hu logged a second-place finish with a score of 222.90.
“Our depth was on full display against Grand Canyon, as we had 1-2-3 finishes in multiple events,” mentioned Murphy. “Lily Larson continues to shine in the 100 and 200 free and Katie Andrist was untouchable in the distance events this weekend. She is carrying a lot of confidence into mid-season.”
Ryan Mills earned a silver finish in the 50 free at 23.77, with Amber Martin right behind in third with a time of 23.84.
Clocking a time of 2:03.59, Jena Nowoswiat placed second in the 200 fly. Natalie Doig finished at 2:06.76 for third place, while Hannah Le (2:07.97) and Kat Putchinski (2:09.65) took fourth and fifth, respectively.
Naomi Furman (1:04.04), Reagan Kampschror (1:05.58), and Maeve Linscott (1:05.73) finished as second, third, and fourth in the 100 breast.
Air Force diving will head to West Point, Ny., where they will compete against Army on November 7 & 8 at 8 a.m. MT.
U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo., – The Falcon men closed the weekend with a 208-155 dual meet victory over Grand Canyon on Saturday afternoon at Cadet Natatorium. Overall, Air Force recorded 22 first place finishes on the weekend.
The 400 medley relay team comprised of Dylan Ferguson, Bridon Rosales, James Winterfield, and Jordan Falls earned the top spot with a time of 3:16.20.
Junior Tyler Surratt took first place in the 1000 free at 9:43.87. Teammate Evan Witte followed behind with a time of 9:50.59.
In the 400 IM, Matthew Doty touched the wall at 1:49.62 to win first place.
After finishing at 53.78, Rosales was the champion of the 100 breast.
The 200 free saw Joe Christ at the top finisher, locking in a time of 1:38.19.
Danny Detjen finished highest for the Falcons in the 200 fly, recording a time of 1:50.87, while Jonas Dark (1:51.19) and Evan Witte (1:54.87) rounded out the top four.
With a time of 50.11, Ferguson earned silver in the 100 back, with Garrett Kennedy (50.53) and Doty (50.77) close behind in fourth and fifth, respectively.
On the platform, Lucas Gerten secured second place with a score of 357.50. Vann Hotchkiss followed behind, scoring 305.70 to earn bronze.
Air Force diving will travel to West Point, Ny., to face Army on November 7 & 8 at 8 a.m. MT.

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — Grand Canyon swimming and diving delivered strong performances despite the team losses to Air Force in a two-day meet this weekend.
Sophomore Taylor Stasny led the Lopes with an impressive individual slate, winning the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:15.93, placing first in the 200 individual medley at 2:04.87 and contributing to GCU’s victorious 200 medley relay (1:41.81) and 400 medley relay (3:44.45). Stasny’s consistency in breaststroke and IM events paced a deep women’s group that posted four top-two relay finishes.
GCU freshman Paula Martinez Moreno swept the butterfly events, taking first in the 100 butterfly at 55.14 and the 200 butterfly at 2:01.76. Martinez also swam on the winning 200 and 400 medley relays alongside Luna Torre Ayala, Stasny, Marta Guasp and Sara Mose.
Mose continued her impressive freshman season with a 50 freestyle victory in 22.92 seconds, while adding legs on both top-two freestyle relays.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Sara Mendoza, Stasny, Katelyn Huffman, and Mose placed second in 3:25.76.
On the men’s side, GCU’s Guillermo Carrey captured the 100 freestyle title in 44.61 and anchored the Lopes’ first-place 400 freestyle relay (3:00.48) with Mario Perez, Eli Cohen, and Trypp Duarte.
Perez added a first-place showing in the 50 freestyle (20.32) and another in the 200 butterfly (1:50.80), while Cohen swam a 21.96 butterfly split on the 400 medley relay, the No. 2 all-time 50 fly split in GCU history.
GCU senior Alex Volkov finished first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.02, and helped the Lopes to first-place finishes in the 100 freestyle relay (1:20.80) and 400 medley relay (3:19.35).
Grand Canyon also earned strong performances from Omar Elsayed, who won the men’s 3-meter diving event with 409.8 points while also winning the platform competition (389.95 points). In addition, the sophomore added a second-place 1-meter finish (336.4 points).
Batu Servi also placed second in the 500 freestyle in 4:38.61.
Despite the team losses of 224-147 (women’s) and 208-155 (men’s), the meet closed with the Lopes’ freestyle relays taking wins — the women finishing first in the 200 with a squad of Mendoza, Huffman, Mose, and Krisalyn Henderson (1:33.58). The men posted a first-place finish of 1:20.80 in 200 freestyle relay behind Carrey, Volkov, Cohen and Perez.
