Day 1 Heat Sheet
The Day 1 heat sheet is out, and World Champion Ahmed Jaouadi has scratched out of the men’s 1500 freestyle on night 1 of the 2025 U.S. Open.
He was seeded first in the event with the 14:34.41 he swam at the 2025 World Championships to win the gold medal, coming in just over two seconds ahead of World Record holder Bobby Finke. The two men have been training together at Florida, but Finke will be in a world of his own for tonight’s race where he will now be the top seed by more than 40 seconds.
The women’s event also saw the top seed, Kate Hurst scratched out of tonight’s session. Hurst was seeded ahead of Leticia Fassina Romao by seven seconds. Fassina Romao will now come in about seven seconds ahead of Mila Nikanorov as the top seed. There will only be one heat of the women’s 1500 tonight, and the top four seeds are separated by 14 seconds, so it could be a close race tonight.
