Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.
Hungarian swimmer Zoltan Bagi has announced his commitment to swim for the University of Florida beginning in the fall of 2026.
“I chose the University of Florida because I believe it is the perfect place to develop both as an athlete and as a student.”
Originally from Tiszaújváros, Hungary, Bagi currently swims for Budapest Railway Sports Club – Zugló, where he primarily specializes in free and fly.
Bagi competed at the 2025 Hungarian Short Course Championships (SCM) in November, where he took down a national age group record in the 50 free. He placed 5th overall with a best time of 21.85, breaking the Hungarian record for the boys’ 17-year-old age group in the event. Bagi also placed 2nd in the 100 fly (51.40) and 5th in the 50 fly (23.28) in addition to contesting the 50 back (25.26), logging new lifetime bests in each event.
At the 2025 Junior Short Course National Championship (SCM) a few weeks later in December, Bagi posted new personal best times in the 100 free (48.07) and 50 fly (23.24).
Over the summer, Bagi competed at the LEN European Junior Championships (LCM), where he made it to the finals in the 50 fly. He placed 5th overall in 23.97 after logging a best time of 23.84 during the semifinals.
Best Times SCM (SCY Conversion)
- 50 free – 21.85 (19.68)
- 100 free – 48.07 (43.30)
- 50 fly – 23.24 (20.94)
- 100 fly – 51.40 (46.30)
A Division I program, Florida competes in the Southeastern Conference, with the men’s team taking the runner-up spot at the 2026 SEC Championships a few weeks ago. Based on the results from this season’s conference championship, Bagi’s projected converted times would have landed him in the ‘C’ final in the 100 fly, giving him a chance to score some points right from the start.
On the team itself, Bagi would have ranked 3rd in the 50 fly and 100 fly, 6th in the 50 free and 7th in the 100 free through this point in the season, setting him up to be a strong contributor when he joins the team in the fall. With the Gators’ top freestyler and butterflyer, Josh Liendo, set to graduate this spring, Bagi will help fill some of the gaps left behind next season.
Currently set to join Bagi in Gainesville in the fall are Liam Smith, Santi Alzate, Tai Pearson and Junwoo Kim, who should all make for strong training partners over the next four years.
