- Meet Mobile: “2026 OH Tim Myers SC Senior Champs”
The highlight of the 2026 Ohio SC Senior Championships was undeniably the boys’ 15-18 National Age Group 200 free relay record from the Central Ohio quartet of Jake Lloyd (19.57), Caden Mahl (19.64), Alex Wu (19.76), and Austin Carpenter (19.44), combining for 1:18.41, taking down the former NAG mark from Quicksilver from December in 18.96.
Each of the relay members found some success elsewhere at those championships as well; Lloyd, an Arizona State commit also contributed to several relay wins for Central Ohio, including a 43.41 leadoff leg of the 400 free relay, which was more than a full second faster than any other 100 free he had swam prior to this meet, besting his former best of 44.46 from the Speedo Winter Junior Championships East in December. He also picked up an individual win in the 100 butterfly, taking just over a tenth of a second off of his previous best time here in 47.29.
Mahl, 16, did not win any individual races, but did swim some of the fastest times of his career in his efforts, including a 3rd place finish in that 100 fly race, taking seven-tenths of a second off of his best time to finish two spots off of the top of the podium in 48.02.
His biggest improvement of the weekend came in the 100 breast, where he touched with the 3rd fastest time of the meet in 54.90, over a second faster than his previous best time from the Speedo Winter Juniors Championship East in 55.98. His highest individual finish came in the 200 IM, touching 2nd in 1:50.25, just off of his career best of 1:49.44 from December.
Wu, 18, did not earn any individual wins during the meet but did swim several of his fastest-ever times, including a half-second best time in the 100 free in 44.16, earning him a 5th-place finish in the event. He experienced similar success in the 200 free, swimming to a new lifetime best in 1:38.42, a little more than a tenth faster than his former best from the BGSC Senior Fall Invite in November (1:39.54).
One of Wu’s other noteworthy swims was the 400 IM, as he finished 3rd overall in 3:56.79, a near five second improvement over his previous best time from the 2024 Speedo Winter Junior Championship East in 4:01.66, this swim also marked the first time that he raced this event in over a year, having last done so at the MAKO Swim Meet in early March of last year.
The final swimmer of that relay was Texas commit Austin Carpenter. Carpenter was among the winningest swimmers at this meet, earning wins in the 100 free (43.08), 50 breast (24.18), 100 breast (53.37), and 100 IM (48.05), swimming best times in the 50 breast and 100 IM. Carpenter was also key in the success of all Central Ohio’s winning relays, anchoring the 400 free and medley relays in 44.32 and 43.95, respectively. He added a breaststroke leg twice to the 200 medley relay, splitting 2477 and 23.84 on those relays.
Other Notable Performances:
- Greater Toledo’s Mia Buff (Tennessee commit) recorded lifetime bests in both the 50 back and 200 back, winning the shorter race of the two in 24.86 and finishing runner-up in the 200 back in 1:56.01, taking just three hundredths off of her former best from the NCSA Spring Championships last March.
- Mason Manta Rays’ Maya Schweikert (Georgia commit) was the winner of that aforementioned 200 back battle, dominating the field in 1:52.03, a time that was over a full second better than her previous best of 1:53.33 from the Speedo Winter Junior Championships East in 2024.
- On the men’s side for the Mason Manta Rays, Brady Campbell, an Indiana commit, nabbed wins and lifetime bests in several events, including the 50 free (19.48), 200 free (1:36.38), and the 50 fly (20.82).
