13-Year-Old Autumn McIntosh Swims 9:47.66 1000 Free On Night 1 Of Columbia Sectionals

Highlighting night one of Sectionals in Missouri was 13-year-old Autumn McIntosh, who swam to a 9:47.66 in the 1000 freestyle for the win. That broke the Sectional Record and also moves her up to #34 all-time in the 13-14 age group in the event. She dropped 19.99 seconds in her swim and won by two seconds.

Texas commit Sydney Schoeck swam to a lifetime best 1:51.49 in the 200 backstroke for her win. Schoeck’s previous best was a 1:52.37 that she swam at this meet a year ago. That is a huge swim for the 17-year-old as it would have made the 2026 NCAA Championships.

Sixteen-year-old Clara Seemann swam to a 2:11.94 in the 200 breaststroke, dropping over two seconds from her previous best 2:14.20 that she swam for 11th at Winter Juniors West in December. Her time today would have notably moved her up to 4th at Winter Juniors. Teammate Kinley Baber also swam to a best time in the event as she touched 2nd in a 2:12.55.

NC State commit Zoe Smith won the 50 free in a lifetime best 22.18. That dropped half a second off her previous best of a 22.64 that she swam just two weeks ago at the Arkansas 6A State Championships. Lucy Velte, a Northwestern commit, was 2nd in a lifetime best 22.31. Velte’s previous best was a 22.62. Velte earned her own win with a 23.60 in the 50 fly.

Highlighting the boys’ side of the meet was Ellis Crisci, who blasted a 14:47.10 in the 1650 free for the win. Crisci, a Texas commit, entered the day with a lifetime best 14:53.10. His time from this weekend is notable as it would have made the NCAA “cutline,” as that sat at a 14:52.80. His time would have also been the fastest for Texas this season, as Aidan Hammer currently leads the team with a 14:49.19.

Ryan Coughenour dropped over two seconds from his best time in the 200 breast. Coughenour touched in a 1:57.55, dropping from his previous best time of a 1:59.62 that he swam at this meet a year ago. He is committed to Florida State.

Louisville commit Ty Thomas dropped 0.01 off his lifetime best in the 50 free to win in a 19.61, dropping from his 19.62 that he swam for 4th in prelims at Winter Juniors West back in December. He went on to swim a 19.75 in finals, then for 5th.

Also earning wins on night 1 was Joshua Smith, who touched in 1:43.41 in the 200 back. The Wisconsin commit was slightly faster in prelims with a 1:43.17, but dropped from his best time coming into the day as that sat at a 1:43.63. Eje Kim also earned a win as he won the 50 fly in a 21.63.
